We started Unpaved because we are those travelers. We're the families who pile into the car every December to cut our own Christmas tree, who dream of weddings tucked into vineyard rows, and who throw kids' birthday parties with muddy boots and fresh air on a working farm. These weren't just weekend outings. They became some of our favorite, lasting memories.
But we also learned how hard these places are to find. Tracking down the right one takes digging through a dozen different sources, and that's only step one. Then there's a trip to plan, a group to coordinate, a route to work out.
Unpaved exists to connect curious travelers with the working farms across America that have opened their gates. Whether a farm sits deep in the countryside or just outside a busy city, we believe the best trips happen when you step off the paved highway, learn something directly from the person who knows it best, and meet the people who grow, host, and harvest.

Unpaved works differently. No bookings, because the connection between a traveler and a working farm should be direct. No commissions, so every dollar spent on a farm stay, workshop, or seasonal harvest goes straight to the farm owner. And every basic listing is free: we curate and import working farms to help travelers find them, and farm owners can claim, edit, and manage their listing at no cost.
To keep the platform running, we offer an optional Featured Listing for farms who want extra visibility. We always label these clearly, for full transparency.
